HUMOIN
Human mobile innovation
Mobile
innovation, client centric, in an ethical and human approach
The proverbial “killer application” is replaced by a daily
partner that makes my life easier, unobtrusively and with respect for my private
life.
I want to communicate and live transparently : whatever the device used, the location...
I'm tired of dealing with different address books (PC, mobile,
wired phones, …) and different contact infomation: phone number, email
address, FaceBook, Twitter, Skype, LinkedIn, WLM, … This hodge-podge of data
is a nightmare to maintain, to synchronise: I need the “address book of
address books” : a meta address book. What I really want though is to manage a
single set of my own private data (contacts,
agenda, photos, …) and share it with whoever I want, however I choose.
My data belong to me alone.
My data is not the property of a company: no telco, service provider, device
manufacturer nor software editor. Sure, their combined services provide the
network memory space, but they don't own my data. Does a bank own the money I
entrust them with (although nowadays, is this such a good example?... :-)
I don't want my bank or the national railways to know what I do,
when and where. I don't want to receive unsolicited ads, depending on my tastes
and habits. Some day in the near future, I'll be willing to pay for such peace
of mind: not being tracked, not being disturbed are essential to preserving my
privacy, my quality of life.
When I move across town, when I add some photos, updates are
silently sent to certain contacts, depending on their rights and interests
(family, friends, colleagues, …)
Security is essential. I
need to be physically there to manage my data, I can't rely on a password. Voice
recognition, GPS – there are a lot of methods that can be used, biometric or
not.
Back home, I'll hook up my phone to a universal slot linked to
my home tablet – this triggers automatic
synchronisation of my contacts (and other data?) on all
my devices, everywhere: mobile phones, home phone, computers, network
backup, etc.
I use my home tablet to communicate:
voice (over WiFi or cellular networks), and data:
mobile (SMS), e-mail...
The next generation will allow me to retrieve weather information every morning,
news, receive alerts (sport results, traffic jams, horoscope), basic information
that I want, bank account information.
Nearly all of the above is already technically feasible, and
standards are also available to support it. Some pieces of technical “glue”
may still be missing, but more than anything, what is needed is the will of the
person to make it happen. Then again, we can also wait for Google to eventually
deliver on this, but why should they have all the fun! :-)
